1. Overview of Hastelloy C-4 (N06455) Hastelloy:
 
Hastelloy C-4 (N06455) Hastelloy is an austenitic low carbon nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy. The main difference between Nicrofer 6616hMo and other earlier developed alloys of similar chemical composition is the lower carbon, silicon, iron, and tungsten content. Such a chemical composition makes it exhibit excellent stability at 650-1040°C, improves the ability to resist intergranular corrosion, and can avoid edge line corrosion sensitivity and weld heat affected zone corrosion under appropriate manufacturing conditions.

2. Hastelloy C-4 (N06455) Hastelloy gold processing efficiency: 
1. Hastelloy C-4 Hastelloy alloy processing and heat treatment: Hastelloy C-4 alloy can be manufactured and processed through traditional production processes.
2. Hastelloy C-4 Hastelloy Heating: The workpiece should always be kept clean and pollution-free before and during heat treatment.

During the heat treatment process, do not come into contact with sulfur, phosphorus, lead and other low-melting point metals, otherwise the Nicrofer 6616 hMo alloy will become brittle. Care should be taken to remove contaminants such as marking paint, temperature indicator paint, colored crayons, lubricating oil, fuel and other contaminants.
The lower the sulfur content in the fuel, the better. The sulfur content in gas should be less than 0.1%, and the sulfur content in heavy oil should be less than 0.5%. Electric furnace heating is a better choice because it can accurately control the temperature and the furnace gas is clean. If the gas from a gas stove is pure enough, you can also choose it. The furnace gas of the heating furnace should be neutral to slightly reducing. The fluctuation of the furnace gas between oxidizing and reducing properties should be avoided. The heating flame cannot be burned directly towards the workpiece."
3. Hastelloy C-4 Hastelloy alloy hot processing:The thermal processing temperature range of Hastelloy C-4 is 1080℃~900℃, and the cooling pipe is water cooling or other rapid cooling pipe. To ensure the best anti-corrosion performance, solution heat treatment should be performed after thermal processing.
4. Hastelloy C-4 Hastelloy alloy cold processing:The workpiece should be in a solution heat treated state during cold working. The work hardening rate of Hastelloy C-4 is greater than that of austenitic stainless steel, so the processing equipment needs to be selected. There should be intermediate annealing during cold rolling. If the cold rolling deformation is greater than 15%, the workpiece needs to be subjected to secondary solution treatment.
5. Hastelloy C-4 Hastelloy heat treatment:The solution treatment temperature range of Hastelloy C-4 is 1050℃~1100℃. For materials with a thickness less than 1.5mm, it is recommended that the cooling pipe be water quenched, or rapid air cooling can be used to obtain maximum corrosion resistance. During heat treatment, the workpiece must be kept clean.
6. Hastelloy C-4 Hastelloy scale:The surface oxide of Hastelloy C-4 and the adhesion of the welding slag around the weld are stronger than that of stainless steel. It is recommended to use a fine-grained abrasive belt or fine-grained grinding wheel for grinding. Before pickling with HNO3/HF mixed acid, the oxide film must be broken up by sandblasting or grinding.
7. Hastelloy C-4 Hastelloy alloy machining:The machining of Hastelloy C-4 should be carried out in the annealed state. Due to the high work hardening of Nicrofer 6616 hMo, it is advisable to use low cutting speeds and heavy feeds to machine under the cold work hardened surface.
8. Hastelloy C-4 Hastelloy welding:Hastelloy C-4 can be welded with various welding processes, such as tungsten electrode inert gas shielded welding, plasma arc welding, manual sub-arc welding, metal pole inert gas shielded welding, and melting pole inert gas shielded welding. Priority is given to pulsed arc welding.
Before welding, the material needs to be in an annealed state to remove oxide scale, oil stains and various marks and marks. A wide area of ​​about 25mm on both sides of the weld needs to be polished to a bright metal surface. Use low heat input, and the interlayer temperature does not exceed 150°C. This steel type does not require pre-weld and post-weld heat treatment. Recommended filler metals: wire: ERNiCrMo-7, electrode: ENiCrMo-7.
To get the most suitable corrosion resistance, consider GTAW first. When using GTAW and SMAW, use welding consumables that are consistent with the base metal.
