5. Inconel617 metallographic structure:
Inconel617 alloy has a face-centered cubic lattice structure and has good crystal phase stability. Excellent high-temperature strength is achieved through solid solution hardening, and the alloy does not undergo age hardening.
6. Inconel 617 corrosion resistance and heat resistance:
Inconel617 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in hot and corrosive fields such as sulfide environments, especially oxidation and carbonization environments up to 1100°C. These corrosion resistance properties, combined with excellent mechanical properties, make this alloy particularly suitable for use in high-temperature applications. In addition, the higher nickel, chromium, and molybdenum contents make the alloy have good corrosion resistance in most corrosive media.
7. Inconel 617 application:
Inconel 617 is suitable for use in high temperature and extremely high mechanical stress applications. The recommended operating temperature does not exceed 1000°C. At the same time, Inconel 617 is suitable for applications where weight reduction is required, such as processing of thin-walled structural parts.

(5) High-temperature gas cooling nuclear reactor, such as high-temperature components of nuclear reactor - helium/helium medium heat exchanger.
(6), chemical equipment.
(7) Spiral pipes and pipes in the petrochemical industry
8. Inconel 617 (N07617) nickel-based alloy processing and heat treatment:
Inconel 617 alloy is easy to process in a variety of hot and cold processes, but requires high-power equipment due to its high strength. Inconel 617 alloy has excellent welding performance and can be welded using various welding methods.
1. Inconel 617 preheating:
The surface of the workpiece must be cleaned before and during the heating process to keep the surface clean. Inconel 617 alloy will become brittle if the heating environment contains sulfur, phosphorus, lead or other low melting point metals. Impurities come from marking paint, chalk, lubricating oil, water, fuel, etc. The sulfur content of the fuel should be low. For example, the impurity content of liquefied gas and gas should be less than 0.1%, the sulfur content of city gas should be less than 0.25g/m3, and the sulfur content of petroleum gas should be less than 0.5%. The electric furnace for heating should preferably have a more precise temperature control capability. The furnace gas must be neutral or weakly oxidizing. Fluctuations in oxidizing and reducing properties of the furnace gas composition should be avoided. The heating flame cannot be directed toward the workpiece. During all heating processes, the material must be added to the heated furnace.
2. lnconel 617 thermal processing:
Due to the very high thermal intensity, considerable processing forces are required during thermal processing.
The suitable thermal processing temperature for Inconel 617 alloy is 1200-950°C. The cooling pipe can be water quenching or other rapid cooling pipes. The material must be entered into the heating furnace when it reaches the maximum furnace temperature.
3. Inconel 617 cold processing:
Cold working should be carried out after annealing. The work hardening rate of Inconel617 is greater than that of solid stainless steel. The processing equipment should be adjusted accordingly and there should be an intermediate annealing process during the cold working process.
When the cold deformation is greater than 10% or for materials with application temperatures higher than 900°C, the cold deformation is greater than 5%, final solution annealing is required.
4. Inconel 617 heat treatment:
In order to obtain appropriate performance, the solution treatment temperature is 1150℃-1200℃, and it must be water quenched to obtain maximum resistance to degeneration. If the thickness is less than 1.5mm, it can also be quickly air-cooled. Stress relief annealing temperatures can reach 870°C. During all heat treatments, pay attention to the matters mentioned earlier about maintaining cleanliness.
5. Inconel 617 polishing:
Oxides near the welds of |nconel 617 workpieces are more difficult to remove than those of stainless steel. Mechanical or chemical methods can be used. When using mechanical methods, metal contamination and high surface deformation must be avoided. Before pickling in a mixed acid of nitric and hydrofluoric acid, oxides should also be removed with sandpaper or pre-treated in a salt bath.
6. Inconel 617 machining:
|Machining of Inconel 617 needs to be carried out after solution treatment. Taking into account the work hardening of the material, Inconel 617 must use lower surface cutting speeds and heavy feeds than low-alloy standard austenitic stainless steel.
7. Inconel 617 welding:
Inconel 617 alloy is well suited for welding, including tungsten electrode arc welding (GTAW/TIG), manual arc welding (GMAW/MIG), pulsed arc welding and shielded gas arc welding. Before welding, the material must be in a solution-treated state. The surface of the material must be clean, free of oil stains, chalk marks, etc. The 25mm area around the weld must be polished to expose bright metal. Use low heat input, and the interlayer temperature does not exceed 150°C. No pre- or post-weld heat treatment is required.
Recommended welding materials: welding wire: ERNiCrCoMo-1, electrode: ENiCrCoMo-1.
